Prairie View Elementary building

Prairie View Elementary is the largest elementary school in the Lee’s Summit School District as well as one of the largest elementary schools in the state of Missouri.

The original Prairie View building opened in 1980 as Home of the Prairie Dogs. Two additions (added in 1985 and 1987) and several mascots later, the current Prairie View Elementary serves approximately 1000 kindergarten through fifth grade students. Located on Lee’s Summit’s east side, Prairie View students attend Pleasant Lea and Bernard Campbell Middle Schools and Lee’s Summit and Lee’s Summit North High Schools.

Today, Prairie View Elementary is a diverse learning community where staff, students, parents and community members learn and work collaboratively together. Our primary purpose is to assist our students in developing the essential skills necessary for both learning and life. Prairie View is focused on all areas of education, including integrated technology, Common Core Curriculum, Balanced Assessment, and Character Education.
